Free To Air
Television
Free to Air television is exactly
what it sounds like: television that is free to watch. So
called Free to Air satellites broadcast television and radio
programs to receivers and can be watched for free,
although they are usually digitally encoded and restricted to
certain geographic areas.
Most of the channels are delivered via
satellite television, although some are available through UHF
or VHF bands. In Germany, there are over 100 digital TV
channels that are free to air, and nearly all satellite radio
in Europe is free to air. All you need to receive these
channels is a suitable free to air receiver, which is often a
dish and a digibox of some description. The many free to air
television signals available are often of better quality than
those that you may be paying for, because they are more
educational programs, contain less violence in the free movie
channels, have updated news and science, sports, and even
channels in different languages. Your receiver should be
capable of receiving up to about 5000 tv and radio channels
from around the world, although usually you would be watching
the tv channels from your own country.
If you can settle for just watching
the free programming you will save loads of money and more than
enough channels to keep you content.
